Market Expansion and Cross-Sector Partnerships

Building Collaborative Growth Across Industries

Latin America’s compact electric truck market is expanding rapidly through alliances that unite logistics firms, manufacturers, and public institutions. According to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the sector recorded an average annual growth rate of 8.4 percent between 2022 and 2025. This momentum reflects the region’s efforts to align industrial competitiveness with sustainable mobility goals.

Brazil’s automotive sector leads with partnerships between Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, BYD, and logistics companies such as Correios and Randon for the deployment of electric delivery trucks. In Mexico, the collaboration between JAC Motors, Enel X, and DHL focuses on smart-charging fleet solutions for last-mile logistics. Meanwhile, Chile and Colombia have established public–private consortia to integrate electric trucks into waste collection, food distribution, and retail supply chains.

Regional development banks play a key role in facilitating these partnerships. Programs coordinated by CAF and BNDES provide co-financing for infrastructure, innovation, and workforce integration. Additionally, cross-border projects are emerging to share charging standards and maintenance technologies across Mercosur and the Pacific Alliance economies.

These alliances represent a new industrial model based on collaboration and shared value. As companies coordinate resources and technologies, Latin America strengthens its position as a regional hub for electric vehicle innovation and sustainable logistics.
