The result is a shift from reactive budgeting to strategic planning. Cities can now align financial forecasts with technical reliability, ensuring that resources are allocated to the most critical assets. This not only improves cost-efficiency but also extends the functional life of cleaning equipment.

Regional Implementation

Brazil’s Programa de Gestión de Ciclo de Vida de Equipos Públicos integrates maintenance, procurement, and depreciation models for urban fleets. Mexico’s Infraestructura Sustentable 2030 applies lifecycle analytics to cleaning and waste collection systems in 50 municipalities. Chile’s Gestión Financiera Circular combines public accounting with environmental performance metrics, while Colombia and Peru have introduced CAF-supported software tools that simulate maintenance costs and replacement cycles.

These initiatives enable municipal governments to track the total cost of ownership (TCO) and assess investment returns based on real operational data, improving long-term financial governance.
