In 2024, Chile’s construction output exceeded USD 33 billion. Public works, housing programs, and industrial projects were key growth drivers. Urbanization now reaches more than 88 percent of the population, creating strong demand for housing, transport, and social infrastructure.

Government initiatives such as the National Urban Development Policy promote sustainable cities through better land use and public transport integration. Meanwhile, the Public–Private Infrastructure Plan 2030 aims to attract USD 25 billion in new investments for roads, ports, and renewable energy facilities.

Smart Cities and Digital Infrastructure

Chile is at the forefront of smart city adoption in South America. Santiago, Valparaíso, and Concepción are implementing IoT networks, data-driven traffic systems, and energy-efficient lighting. These projects optimize mobility and reduce environmental impact.

Sustainability has become a core objective in Chile’s construction policy. More than 8 million square meters of projects are now certified under green building standards such as LEED and CES. Developers increasingly use low-carbon materials, energy-efficient designs, and water reuse systems to meet environmental goals.

Furthermore, the introduction of circular construction practices—such as recycling concrete and reusing industrial materials—is reducing the sector’s waste footprint. These innovations support Chile’s national decarbonization targets for 2050.

Infrastructure Modernization and Connectivity

Major transport projects are reshaping the country’s logistics and mobility networks. The Santiago Metro Line 7, currently under construction, will serve more than 1 million passengers daily. Highway expansions and port upgrades in Antofagasta and San Antonio are also improving freight efficiency.

Telecommunications and energy infrastructure are advancing in parallel. Chile’s Digital Connectivity Plan is expanding fiber optics and 5G coverage nationwide, providing the foundation for smart urban ecosystems.
